Springtime in Myrtle Beach
The weather is getting warmer, the lush greens of golf courses dot the landscape, and every other day brings a new festival or event. It’s Springtime in Myrtle Beach, SC! One of the best times of year to visit the Grand Strand is during this magical season of excitement and renewal! Here’s a few reasons why you should visit in the next few months:
- It’s getting warmer!
I know this is obvious, but there’s something different about 75 degrees and sunny back home and 75 degrees and sunny at THE BEACH! There’s a tangible excitement in the air and positivity everywhere in the Myrtle Beach area. This area features smiling folks ready to share their experience and happiness to visitors from all over. Restaurants open up outdoor seating and there’s nothing quite like a refreshing ocean breeze while enjoying fresh seafood, gourmet burgers, or low country specialties as you gaze upon the surf. Ahhhh……
2. Festivals and Events
Along with the warm weather comes some really unique and exciting festivals and events. From Little River to Georgetown, the entire 60 mile long Grand Strand has something fun going on! Starting with St. Patrick’s Day, you’ll find parades and festivals in Myrtle and North Myrtle Beach. There’s multiple car shows like the “Run to the Sun” show featuring classic cars where you can view beautiful automobiles inside and out. The World Famous Little River Blue Crab Festival is May 16-17th and features live music, fresh local seafood, and hundreds of vendors. Shopping and entertainment centers like Broadway at the Beach and Barefoot Landing are always offering live music and family friendly activities. There’s a ton of cultural festivals and expos as well as marathons, cheer/dance competitions, baseball/softball tournaments, The Myrtle Beach Pelicans, and conventions of all sorts. Visit Myrtle Beach, South Carolina in the Spring, and you’ll have just one or two things to choose from (wink, wink!).
3. Natural Beauty
The birds are singin’ and the flowers are bloomin’! There’s no better time to take a stroll through one of the many parks and nature preserves that “Spring” to life during this wonderful season. The top two places to visit are right across the street from each other in beautiful Murrell’s Inlet: Huntington Beach State Park and Brookgreen Gardens. Here, you can find amazing sculptures, Spring exhibitions, winding paths through live oaks and saltwater estuaries, and all sorts of wildlife. It’s a bird watcher’s paradise at both locales as you can see herons, egrets, mallards, osprey, and even Bald Eagles! You’ll most certainly see alligators. There’s even a butterfly garden at Brookgreen. Besides these two wonders, there’s also dozens of parks that all have unique water features, sporting areas, and walking paths.
4. Golf, Golf, Golf!
With more golf courses in one place than anywhere in the world, Myrtle Beach truly is the golf capital of the universe! The Springtime golf scene is marvelous on the Grand Strand. There’s always tremendous deals and the courses are at their best.
5. Rates are Great!
We all know that summer rates are higher in beach areas. In the Springtime, you’ll get the beach experience of warm weather, but with less crowds, and lower rates for accommodations, dining, shows, and more. This makes it easier to take a shorter vacation for a long weekend or Spring Break in addition to a longer, traditional summer getaway. Booking a property in advance during the spring with a company like Palmetto Vacation Rentals (shameless plug, I know – but it’s true!) can save you a ton while providing you a much needed getaway. Be sure to ask about promotions and deals when you check into your hotel or vacation rental manager.
